Face Lift Model Image

A face lift (technically known as rhytidectomy) is one of the most popular facial plastic surgical procedures. Our patients choose a face lift in Seattle to improve an aging or tired appearance. The procedure can reverse the effects of gravity, sun exposure and daily stress by adjusting the tissues of the neck and lower face.

Dr. Stella Desyatnikova is board-certified in Facial Plastic and Reconstructive Surgery, as well as Otolaryngology - Head and Neck Surgery. She has years of experience performing facial plastic surgery. Always careful to listen to exactly what her patients want, Dr. Stella takes the time to connect with you personally to devise a surgical plan that provides beautiful results.

Am I a face lift candidate?

Most of our Seattle face lift patients are in their 40's to 60's; however, facelifts can be performed on patients in their 70's and 80's as well, health permitting. A good candidate is someone who has sagging skin on the neck and lower face but still has some elasticity present.

How is a face lift performed?

Facelifts are usually performed under general anesthesia or deep sedation in a surgery center setting to provide maximum comfort. The procedure takes several hours to complete, as it is fairly complex. Incisions are made behind and inside the ears, which will be well-hidden in natural creases and shadows. Skin and deep tissues of the face and neck are elevated as necessary and tightened in the proper direction. The muscle tissue envelope underneath the skin is tightened separately to ensure a natural look.

After a facelift in Seattle, a large and fairly tight dressing is applied to prevent the accumulation of blood beneath the skin. Pain medications are prescribed to ensure a comfortable recovery. The dressings are removed the day after the procedure. For the best results, it is important to follow all post-operative instructions, such as head elevation and application of ice packs. Sutures are removed a week after surgery. Following a facelift, you may experience bruising and swelling of the face and neck, which will resolve over time. Recovery typically takes about 2 to 3 weeks.

Additional Treatments

Many of our facelift patients choose to have additional cosmetic procedures performed with their facelift in order to enhance results. There are several options, but most commonly the procedure can be combined with:
