What is involved in this procedure?
There are various options for lip enhancement, depending on each patient's specifications.
Filler injections, such as RestylaneŽ and Hylaform are among the most frequently requested procedures in our office. Subtle improvement in lip shape can be achieved along with augmentation. The procedure also frequently helps to minimize bleeding lipstick lines. Filler injections generally take an hour in the office and a local anesthetic is used to make the procedure more comfortable. Results generally last between 4 and 6 months.
A more long-term lip augmentation method is the lip implant. This procedure is generally performed in office under sedation and takes approximately an hour. Small incisions are made on the sides of the lips and a soft Goretex implant is inserted. Swelling, tenderness and bruising of the lips is likely and resolves gradually.
