Mini Facelift

Mini-facelift The mini-facelift or S-lift has gained popularity in recent years as many people have become interested in effective surgical facial rejuvenation procedures with less recovery time than the traditional facelift. The mini-facelift is a relatively non-invasive surgical procedure which subtly refreshes the neck and lower face by tightening sagging skin of the chin, cheeks and neck.

Who is a good candidate for a mini-facelift?

A person with some laxity along the lower face or early jowls, who wants a natural and refreshed look, is an ideal candidate for the mini-facelift. Other suitable candidates are those who desire improvement of the lower face but do not want the longer recovery associated with the standard facelift or those who have had a facelift previously and want some additional improvement of the lower face. The mini-facelift is not for everybody, however. People who have excessive neck skin laxity or "turkey wattle" will typically do better with a conventional facelift.

What is involved in this procedure?

The mini-facelift addresses the upper neck, jaw line and lower half of the face. The procedure can be performed in our office facility with local anesthesia, if it is appropriate for the patient. Small, well-hidden incisions are made inside and around the ear, and the skin and underlying tissue are tightened. Often, liposuction of the neck is performed as a supplementary procedure for best results. The incisions are closed using fine sutures in order to minimize scarring. A mini-facelift can be performed in just a couple of hours.

Following surgery, patients may experience some mild swelling and bruising; however, overall downtime is minimal and patients can usually resume their daily activities within a week of their surgery.

Can additional procedures be performed with a mini-facelift?

Several cosmetic procedures can enhance the rejuvenating effect of a mini-facelift. If the upper portion of the face needs to be addressed, blepharoplasty (eyelid lift) or a brow lift may be considered. Laser treatments and chemical peels can be combined with a mini-facelift to improve the skin's texture and reduce fine wrinkles. Additionally, Botox® and Restylane® treatments might be suitable supplements. Your physician can advise you as to which procedures might best be combined with a mini-facelift in order to achieve the results you desire.

Thank you so much for an excellent job on my face.
