JUVÉDERM®

Lines, folds, and diminished volume are some of the most bothersome signs of facial aging. But the good news is that these concerns can be easily corrected with injectable dermal fillers, such as JUVÉDERM, in our Seattle, Washington, office. This FDA-approved product is both versatile and effective, improving the face with natural-looking results and very little, if any, downtime.

What Is JUVÉDERM?

JUVÉDERM is a smooth, clear gel formulation of hyaluronic acid, sometimes called HA. This substance occurs naturally in the human body, keeping tissues soft and resilient. With age, the body's production of HA slows down, partially contributing to sagginess, laxity, and skin that loses its "bounce." HA is a common ingredient in topical skin products, but JUVÉDERM is an injectable product that uses the ingredient to fill lines and areas of lost volume.

Is JUVÉDERM right for me?

JUVÉDERM is safe and effective for most people and doesn't require allergy testing prior to administration. Available in several formulations, it can be used to treat the following concerns:

  • Nasolabial folds
  • Marionette lines
  • Lip lines
  • Thin or uneven lips
  • Hollow or sunken cheeks

You should not undergo treatment with JUVÉDERM products, including JUVÉDERM VOLUMA® XC and JUVÉDERM VOLLURE® XC if you've previously had a negative reaction to another HA-based injectable or lidocaine. In this case, another type of injectable filler may be more appropriate.

What can I expect during the treatment?

Treatment with JUVÉDERM is very brief and relatively simple. Dr. Stella begins by lightly cleansing your face to remove dirt, oil, and impurities. Although you may choose to have a topical anesthetic administered before the injection process, all JUVÉDERM products are pre-formulated with lidocaine to reduce discomfort. Each injection takes only a moment, and Dr. Stella skillfully administers the product throughout the areas you'd like to improve. Most patients are in our office for about 30 minutes.

Is there downtime after a JUVÉDERM treatment?

Not typically. Although you may experience some localized tenderness, redness, bruising, or bleeding, there's no reason to abstain from your normal daily activities. You should, however, avoid manipulating the treated areas for several days after your appointment and abstain from strenuous exercise for 1 or 2 days.

What kind of results can I expect?

Because JUVÉDERM is a dermal or skin filler, you can see its results immediately after your treatment. You'll be able to move your face and make expressions as you normally would, but you'll notice that your face appears younger and smoother. The areas you had treated will look and feel like natural tissue. Depending on which JUVÉDERM products were used and where on your face they were added, your results may last for up to 2 years. Dr. Stella can give you a more accurate idea of your likely results during your first appointment.

Why should I choose Dr. Stella for JUVÉDERM treatments?

Dr. Stella is board-certified in both facial plastic and reconstructive surgery and otolaryngology-head and neck surgery. Her advanced training and years of practical experience make her exceptionally adept at creating attractive results that complement your natural features, bringing out your personal best.
